Governor’s council on Women and Girls

Governor's Council on Women and Girls, formed by Governor Ned Lamont in January 2019, is a group tasked with providing a coordinated state response to issues that impact the lives of women, girls, their families, and the State of Connecticut.  The PCSW is a member of the Council, and contributes to the work of the Governor’s Council through the Leadership Subcommittee.

The purpose of this subcommittee is to promote women leadership in both the public and private sectors, particularly government elected and appointed officials, corporate boards and executive management, educational institutions, non-profit organizations and the media with the ultimate goal of achieving gender parity such that gender in workforce leadership proportionately represents the Connecticut population.

Connecticut Collective for women and girls

The Connecticut Collective for Women and Girls is a statewide network of organizations committed to women and girls — connecting groups and people to build relationships, collaborate for increased impact, share with and learn from others, and put our collective power to work on state-level challenges. The Collective’s guiding principles are: Gender equity, racial justice, LGBTQIA rights, civil rights, disability rights, ending and preventing violence, economic justice, reproductive rights, and immigrant’s rights.

The PCSW is a Steering Committee and Governance Committee member of the Connecticut Collective for Women and Girls.  Through the CCWG, the PCSW advances its mission by participating in CCWG initiatives to advance legislation, partnering with other member organizations with symbolic missions, and by soliciting and admitting women’s organizations to join the Collective’s work.
